The BSCLT had the opportunity in 2022 to learn more about how conservation easements for new development in Prince George's County are set up and intended to function. We have particular interest in 'Conservation subdivision' and 'Public Benefit Conservation subdivision' easements offered by the county to developers. It became clear that the County has a different idea about conservation easements than most land trusts do. We hope to be able to weigh in regarding how conserved lands can be a part of new, balanced development in the County.
